A required move away from the foil lining and paper wrapper so intrinsic to the Hershey’s chocolate bar packaging was the driver for this iconic redesign. Because the new wrapper meant losing the tactile features of the classic materials, Sterling created distinction with the packaging graphics. Subtle, but significant, the Hershey’s logo now has a beveled edge, emulating the chocolate bar itself. Revisiting the typography as well, we chose a classic style that would reinforce the quality and care of the long-standing American icon.
