the incredible, edible brand

We are proud to announce that Sterling will be part of a very prestigious exhibit of food packaging with the likes of the legendary Louise Fili and Matteo Bologna at the COOPER UNION in the Herb Lubalin Study Center this September!

Appetite: A Reciprocal Relationship between Food & Design
An Exhibition at the 41 Cooper Gallery

From restaurants and supermarket aisles to the corner store, there is an inherent relationship between graphic design and food. “Appetite,” an innovative exhibition at 41 Cooper Gallery curated by the Herb Lubalin Study Center at The Cooper Union, explores the role and influence of design in the food industry. Design has the power to alter our experience and influence our perception of food. By charting the current landscape of where and how we encounter food-related design in New York City, “Appetite” illustrates the ubiquitous presence of the designer in food packaging, store and restaurant branding, cookbooks, magazines, menus and other objects—both historic and contemporary.

Opening reception: Tuesday, September 14 6-8
Exhibition Dates: September 14-October 9, 2010
Exhibition Hours: Monday-Friday 12-7, Saturday 12-5

These Kids are Alright

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

There are a lot of young folks sitting in design classes right now, looking for direction. Debbie, the President of Sterling Brand’s Design group and major influence in the firm’s creative business since 1995, has also been an educator on the subject of Design, Business, Leadership and Branding since 1991. Because of her hands on experience with some of brightest Design students during her time at F.I.T. and now as Chair of the Masters in Branding Program at the School of Visual Arts, Sterling has been able to scoop up some of the most talented young designers and brand managers currently working in the biz.

Today, they wanted an opportunity to say thanks. (more…)

valentine03

Google is a fantastic brand. Period. I only say this as a starter statement to clearly establish where I stand following a spate of recent articles questioning the continued long-term success of this 12 year old search titan. The article that pushed me over the edge was in the latest edition of Fortune magazine and it’s well worth a read [Click to Read].

So, in response to the question “Is Google over?”, I would answer a categorical “No” but let me add a few more detailed observations: (more…)
